On Wednesday our new delivery artist Sarah Perkins will be running Wildlife in Acrylic art sessions. From hedgehogs to birds she will explore the animal kingdom with participants working towards a collective art piece.

We learned how to make felt using the wet felting method with dyed merino fibres in this session. The participants were fascinated by the process and enjoyed creating pictures with the fibres. Some people embellished their images. Everyones designs were very impressive and the group was really sociable and very friendly towards eachother

Participants had a choice between trying peg loom weaving or acrylic painting. Most participants chose to try the peg loom weaving, with a few opting for the acrylic painting, particularly if they had mobility problems with their hands. A few arrived later, but participants who had already started, helped to show them how to weave

The group completed textile applique pieces from last week adding embellishments. All participants had the choice whether to create fabric beach hut bunting poems or create an ink wash to write their poems on. Everybody had a good time and were very happy with their artworks

Today at Joys of Creation we were (almost!) at the seaside as we remembered and talked about our favourite bits. Participants then used inks, stencils and appliques to create fantastic seaside textile work. ‘

In this session of Joys of Creation each participant finished decorating their hand castings. Each and every one of them looked amazing! Additionally we were joined by some new participants who made pots from air-dryed clay. One of the participants in the session said “Loved every minute of the class, thank you so much”

Participants continued to work on their hand casts as well as clay sculptures in this session. A lot of care was taken to perfect their casted hand pieces. This was done using sandpaper and small tools to remove unwanted remenants on the hand sculptures. They finished by planning their designs for decorating and styling their

Joys of Creation participants made bowls out of clay to house algenate. They had great fun moulding their hands in their own positions resembling different meanings. Some participants placed their hands in a cupped shape others had their hands clasped. Finally the moulds were filled with plaster and then the algenate was removed leaving perfect
