Bridge the Gap: Exhibition I Launch Event

The Artcore gallery was buzzing last night with art lovers and artists. We launched our first exhibition from the Bridge the Gap residency on 2nd February. We would like to all partners, supporters who were present at the event.

Jason Taylor explained how he has pursued a new direction for his work, whilst continuing to use off the shelf items. Ideas of charting pathways have developed the concept of place to place, from push pins and string on a map, to a different kind of aesthetic, creating dramatic shapes and perspectives. The Artcore building was tethered for the opening night. This exhibition also features work from Jason’s Everyday Objects touring exhibition including the Billy Bookcase transformations . . .

As our Derby University graduate, Jane Smith has used the residency to explore ideas of unity and togetherness. Through a series of new works concentrating on clasped hands, Jane develops the idea of holding together exploring the intensity and composure that this brings.

The exhibition also presents Jane’s MA work and Wall 1 from the EM16 Pulse residency.
Art Attachments is an Arts Council Funded project that supports artists by offering opportunities for professional and artistic development. The Bridge the Gap programme offers artists the opportunity to create new work through a residency programme, along with the additional support to develop their practice.

The Exhibition is on until 28th February 2017 Monday – Friday 10.00am – 4.30 pm
